The City of Boise's Chief Operating Officer is taking a new position.

The City of Boise announced that Jade Riley has accepted a City Administrator position for the City of Ketchum.

Riley's last day with Boise is July 10th. He will start the position in Kethum on August 31st.

Riley has been with the City of Boise since 2004, serving as former Mayor David Bieter's Chief of Staff for more than 16 years.

“After troubles at city hall 17 years ago, Jade helped restore morale within the city staff and trust in government among citizens,” said Council President Elaine Clegg. “His innate curiosity and innovative style combined with an unmatched attention to detail enabled our employees, elected officials and community to make Boise the community that it is today. If you have never heard of him before that is exactly what he would want. It’s hard to express how much he will be missed.”

Mayor Lauren McLean presented Riley with a Key to the City last week.

“Jade has been an integral part of the City of Boise for many years and has played a vital role in the operations of the city,” said Mayor McLean. “It isn’t every day you get to work with someone that has the knowledge, passion and sense of humor that Jade has. He will be greatly missed here, both in our organization and in our community. Ketchum is lucky to have him.”

“Working for the City of Boise has been an incredible experience for me,” said Jade. “I am grateful for my years here, and proud of what we have accomplished together.”

In a release, the City of Boise says Riley's position involves managing daily operations of 12 city departments, developing long-term policy with city council and the mayor, and overseeing the development of the city's $515 million budget.
